All the things that we have lost

Music & Dance

I have worked as a DJ at five clubs in Salt Lake City: Area 51, Club Sanctuary , Club Confusion, Club @, and, very briefly, Club Axis. My nights included Submersion, Ascension, and various unnamed goth / industrial / new wave / ebm nights.

Much of my time has always been spent listening to music. I did a 7 or 8 year tour of duty at a college radio station. My time spent there gave me a lot of a musical appreciation.

It drives me crazy when I hear a song I can't identify, so I'm working on a webpage with descriptions and (eventually) sound clips of songs I have but can't identify. If your knowledge of weird mid-80s music is really strong, see if you know what these songs are. I'm warning you, though - these are definitely not easy to identify.

I always through it was a bit dumb to put a listing of one's entire music collection on the web, but then I broke down and done so anyway. I have my reasons, which are that 1) I was making a database of my music anyway for insurance and personal information purposes, and making it viewable on the web was not very hard, and 2) I realized people might be curious about what music I can play at my gigs. Note that, since this is for insurance purposes, I have included all the music I have at my house, including parts of Ricky's collection that he left behind and some of Anthony's music.

Also, please note that I carry many compilation CDs to the club, so just because a CD isn't listed here, doesn't mean I don't have the song you wanted to request. Eventually I will figure out how to list all the relevant tracks on here, but for now this is the best I can do.

  • CDs I bring to play
  • CDs I leave at home
  • You can hear much good music online at Gothic Paradise or In Perpetual Motion, two of my favorite webradio shows.

I spent much of my life dancing. I started ballet at 5, and pretty much kept dancing, off and on, until... well, right now, I'm not dancing, but I have some ideas. My most recent experiences were with the International Dance Theatre, which is part of Eastern Arts. As a member of that troupe, I performed traditional folk dances from Northwestern Asia, the Middle East, and Central Europe, as well as an occasional second-line with the Salt City Saints, a New Orleans style marching jazz band.
