Dining Room
Light
The new light fixture. I painted
the medallion to match to light, and it looks good!
You can't see the details on the light itself, but the circle that holds
the dome has faux
cracks in it to simulate antique stone! Spooky
!
Paul and I, working on the light.
This stupid thing took 2 days to install, due to a manufacturing glitch
(it required much longer screws than were provided in order to hang properly)
and the idiocy of
whomever installed the ugly fixture improperly, screwing it into the slats
instead of putting in a proper junction box!
Check out Paul's Mad Scientist costume!
For once, we are using goggles as they were intended! Eye protection!
Living Room Fan
The hole Paul had to dig into the ceiling to re-seat the fan properly. Imagine
installing a fan to 98 year old 1/4" slats. Idiot!
We ended up putting in a proper ceiling fan junction box, the kind that
bites into 2 beams and keeps the fan from wiggling so much.
Check out the old wiring! That's original to the house!
Here is the final fan, installed.
Paul is a genius when he wants to be -- he seated it so well, it doesn't
wiggle at all.
This was a chrome and black fan; we took the entire housing apart and painted
it to match the light
fixture in the dining room, so now it appears to be carved from stone.
